Happy New Year Everyone!
Even bloggers deserve holidays. The truth is that we were busy for the past few weeks almost non stop. Translation: saw lots of family and friends, and ate lots of food. One of my new years resolutions is to keep this blog alive, so its a late start...but better late than never!
Here are the highlights:
-Celebrating Christmas Eve with my husband's side of the family and enjoying a turkey dinner, two hours later heading to my parents' house to have a prime rib dinner. Yes, two full meals in the span of a few hours. Oh and the next day we had a Christmas Day steak lunch with my in-laws...mmmm!
- Using an electric knife for the first time. (it cuts prime rib roast like a dream!)
- Gifting our mothers with flavor infused Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar (www.fustinis.com) an idea born out of our vacation in Traverse City. They also have a location in Ann Arbor where you can taste a variety of flavors and learn what combinations go well together and how to use them in certain dishes. I brought home the Vanilla Bean Balsamic Vinegar for myself, and I love it in salads!
- Getting two new kitchen appliances: A food processor, and a hand blender. Now I can make hummus without little chunks being left in the batch! The hand blender is amazing, its the appliance I knew the least about, and it is wonderful! I can't wait to venture into making soups and other pureed creations with it.
-Making my sister cry when she opened her surprise gift on sibling Christmas and was so happy to hear she was coming to a concert with us! Sibling Christmas was a lot of fun this year, and by next year my sister-in-law will be a wife and will bring along her husband. So the sibling-hood is growing!
-Winning a gingerbread house contest. Before Christmas we had some good friends over, two couples to be exact, and we decided to have a guys vs. girls gingerbread decorating contest. Check out my facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Married-with-Kitchen/268646703158184) for the pictures. Needless to say, the ladies won!!!
Its bad when a blog takes so long to write that you begin to forget the highlights! All I know is I have lots of restaurant reviews up my sleeve, some new recipes to share and lots of excitement for this new year!
To my family and friends: thank you for making this holiday wonderful by having us over or coming over to our place, you made this holiday special for us, THANK YOU!
To my blog readers, whoever you are, thank you for giving me a chance, and I hope I can make you proud in 2012. Always feel free to leave comments, ask questions and keep me informed of what you like and don't like: I would love to hear from you!
2012, bring it on!
